IIRC there's an vxd driver, but it's distributed separately from Plex86.
then Plex86 is built on cygwin and works with the kernel stuff.

How about licensing that vxd separately with LGPL and the rest of
Plex86 with GPL? There's no problem for a GPL program to interact
in any way with an LGPLed one. This way Plex86 can be GPL and
take code from other GPL projects.

However, since Bochs is also LGPL that makes me think there can be
something else that disallows using the GPL.

Maybe because nonfree OSes need to be run inside Plex86? I believe
that this isn't important, what is forbidden is to link non-GPL
software with GPLed one.
