The current freetype package in PLF has the bytecode interpreter and subpixel
hinting enabled. However, it would be great to have David Turner's cleartype
LCD patches built into the package. Suse provides it through their freetype2
package hosted at:- http://opensuse-community.org/SubpixelHinting..and so does
Ubuntu.
David Turner's patches are available at :- http://david.freetype.org/lcd/, and
many have been able to achieve the cleartype rendering by patching their libXft
and libcairo packages. It would be great it the PLF libfreetype package can do
it all by itself!
