Cool ;-)
Did you have a look at the 'plone-customizations' egg provided by
plone-devstart? Wondering if it serves a somewhat similar purpose.
Or my "hello plone":

Actually, it's kind of nice to see a bunch of these similarly-aimed
projects showing up.
Thanks. Eventually I believe we should adopt the approach which give the
least cruft and most pain-free developer experience.
Hmmm, I'm not sure we should go in that direction. I was hoping to make
things as hard as possible for… kidding! I think what is noteworthy is
that many of us are trying (in our own way) to make things "easy for
people". The challenge of the Plone project is to pick and choose the
best techniques from the myriad of options available, and use them in
"official" channels e.g. core, installers, docs, etc.
Another facet of the discussion is how we all work vs. what we are
trying to teach new folks. This is a glimpse of how I work:

Martin and Moo have given us there glimpses. Hopefully these techniques
match what we teach new folks, but they don't always. This is why need
something like the FWT to "bless" what Plone will officially offer and
stand behind. E.g. Unified Installer: Officially Supported.
