Hi Arjen and Alan, as far as I remember shared library support was always broken in Cygwin, also with the autotools build system. Alan, you asked me to examine that problem using the ABS first, but I never managed to do that. Long story short, this should be no showstopper for 5.8.0 since I don't think that we'll fix that (and is very likely a problem on the Cygwin side).
