Agree with Geoff's comments on style with one caveat and one addition. The caveat concerns out-denting of comments: I basically drop my advocacy of this. I still tend to prefer it, but find that (a) others generally don't like it, and (b) a custom color for comments does (almost) the same job of making them stand out sufficiently from the following code. So I'm fine with either out-denting or not.
The addition concerns line length -- I think 80 chars is too restrictive but we also don't want any 150 character long monstrosities either (I would've thought the latter goes without saying but I've seen it, not in plplot tho).
