Thanks for that guidance. DONE as of revision 10264. BTW, I tested my changes by using -DDEFAULT_ALL_DEVICES=ON and running "make test_noninteractive" in the installed examples tree. That test essentially exercises every noninteractive device driver that is configured. The poor run-time results for some devices lead to my decision to retire some of our historic but unmaintained device drivers (see previous post about this).
