I have this issue as well for my application, where I use the stripchart functionality. I use the xwin driver here on Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4). Unfortunately it's completely random and I never could reproduce consistently. It's just sometimes, that the chart goes right out of the viewport and no rescaling happens.
