Thanks for following my suggestion.  Your success means we can write off the
nasty and puzzling results you were obtaining to some incompatibility of Qt4
with your old set of Ubuntu libraries or a bug in those old libraries.  We
should take mental note to not be too trusting of old libraries in the
future when our users report other issues.

Anyhow, it is excellent news that you no longer have to be concerned with
this issue,
