Hi Phil:

Please hold off until I have time to consider this.  It has been quite
a while so I don't remember details, but I had what I felt were good
reasons for using the fuzzy logic way back when so let me try to
resurrect those reasons from discussion on the plplot-devel list at
the time and from my commit messages in that era, and then look
carefully at your arguments in light of those reasons. But it is going
to take a while before I can do that because there is a lot of other
PLplot stuff I am involved with at the moment.
