Not so sure about the "MSYS" bit. Alan, did you really mean to recommend MSYS ? The MINGW installation advice at http://www.miscdebris.net/plplot_wiki/index.php?title=Configure_PLplot_for_MinGW/CLI states (regarding MSYS): "The MSYS command window (rxvt) is somewhat awkward to use with an interactive program. It buffers the output, so that the question what device you want (as printed by plinit()) appears only after you have given an answer. The net effect is that the program appears to hang. It is easier to use an ordinary DOS-box." Assuming that to be the case, I've always used cmake/mingw in the Windows cmd.exe shell to build plplot - where it all works well. I'm a bit doubtful that there's something to be gained (and nothing to be lost) by using msys. (However, I haven't actually tried using MSYS.)
