Hi Thorsten, Alan, Rob, the current version of MinGW/MSYS uses a different shell than rxvt and it seems to behave much better than rxvt. I have not used in the context of PLplot though (but the Wiki information should be updated).
AFAIK, CMake does not really support MS Visual Studio 2010, though previous version work fine. You can also try the plain makefile approach for building and installing PLplot. Then use Visual Studio to create your own programs - at that point PLplot is "merely" a bunch of libraries.
