As long as we can agree to disagree. Do you think incorrectly
implementing parts of a UI borrowed from an operating system completely
unrelated to the Palm UI is more intuitive? Let's go to the judges:
http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/docs/ui/UI_Forms.html#966708
"However, as with progress dialogs, the Please Wait form is to be
avoided if at all possible. Use it rarely if at all."
Nowhere does it say to use icons, hourglasses, or other cute
animated widgets. Those add a unique quality to some applications, but in
others, detract from the usability.
Please do not confuse Microsoft's UI with Palm's. If your users have
a problem with this paradigm, TRAIN THE USERS.. don't break the UI.
If you must continue down this route, add a configure-time command
to build that noise out of the viewer itself. I'll have to make two versions
for download from the website as well.
I've never heard one single Palm user complain that the UI of
Plucker was confusing because it had "thought bubbles" instead of an
hourglass. We have more important things to work on here.. let's get on
them, and worry about this later, when/if it becomes a real problem for the
users.
