        Here's the update for today:

news.plkr.org is up, with the historical data of all of the previous
Plucker messages (that I had online, dating back to mid-1999) from all lists
(-dev and -list) as well as the plucker cvs commits.

The following groups are available, and it should be clear which
ones are read-only, and which ones allow posting:

[r] plucker.announce Plucker releases, announcements, and other news
[r] plucker.cvs.commits Plucker CVS repository commit logs
[p] plucker.desktop Plucker Desktop discussion
[r] plucker.devel Development list for Plucker (technical)
[r] plucker.general General Plucker discussions (non-technical)
[p] plucker.jpluck JPluck, the Java Plucker interface
[p] plucker.patches Patches for Plucker, viewer, distiller, docs
[p] plucker.pler Discussion about the Plucker Email Reflector

[r] = Read-only, [p] = Post-ok

This server will also be serving other projects and mailing lists I
host, publically visible, until I find a better way to do virtual hosting
with the news server itself. That's the next step, but not very important
right now.

If you need to test posting, please use 'nntp.test.posts.here' for
that. Report any problems you find to me directly (not on these lists
please) and I will attend to it ASAP.

Also, any additional group requests you might find, direct them to
me, and I'll attend to them as well. I may put up a newsgroup there for
sharing and sorting the URLs we all seem to dig up on the web that can be
used in Plucker.

NOTE: This is mostly for the retrieval of messages, or easier
reading of _existing_ messages that are sent to the various
lists. Posting will still take place on the mailing lists
itself. There is currently no "cross-pollination" between news
and mail at this point. If you wish to reply to messages, use
              the list(s).

The mailing list manager we use for the Plucker lists, hosted by
Mark Lillywhite at rubberchicken.org allows a mail->news gateway, built into
the list manager itself. If Mark is willing, I can hook into the existing
mailing list system and get automatic propagation of mail to the news
server. This isn't important right now, but it's a possibililty.

Thanks all, and thanks for supporting Plucker.

d.
