I suppose so.  I've been having a horrible time trying to duplicate the bug.
I thought I had duplicated it yesterday, but it was just the missing volume
label thing.

I am not sure it would create any other problems (unless, I suppose, the
user happens to have a card with the same label as my fake label).  Sure,
the volume reference number can switch around as cards are plugged in and
out, but then it's just a matter of the user's refreshing the document list.
The solution is much better than not letting the user view any of the files
on the card.  Anyway, if the user has volume labels assigned to all cards,
then the present code works as well as the old code.  It only deviates in
behavior in circumstances where the old code failed entirely.  This
certainly seems to be an improvement.
