Why does Plucker by default run in the system default bpp rather than the
highest bpp possible?  It might decrease bug reports (e.g.,
http://bugs.plkr.org/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=980 which I just closed with a
"not a bug") if we ran in the highest bpp.  It's true that memory usage
would be higher.  But other than that, I am not sure there would be any
penalty.  And OS4 hi-res anti-aliased font users would get the 16bpp aa font
performance boost by default.
