Anti-aliased fonts are a major factor behind some people's choice of
Plucker over iSilo. At least I get that impression from reading posts on
ClieSource.com. Anti-aliased fonts are generated by PalmFontConv
(palmfontconv.sf.net). There is no other utility for generating Plucker
format aa font packages, and that is why I am posting this to the
Plucker-dev list.
The thing is that PalmFontConv's GUI is still kludgy and unprofessional.
It does the job, and has lots of users, but there are many tweaks that are
needed, such as remembering the last directory, default extension for the
output file, etc. And there are more ambitious things that could be done,
e.g., breaking up .prc and .pdb fonts for other programs and making
Plucker font packages from them.
I need a volunteer who is willing to do some GUI programming for the
PalmFontConv project. The project is GPL. (But I'm willing to change
that to BSD if the volunteer insists--I own all the copyrights on the
code, except for the FT2 library which is BSD- and GPL-compatible.) The
GUI is a 299-line tcl/tk wrapper for command-line conversion utilities,
but if the volunteer doesn't like tcl/tk, and is willing to re-do it in
any other language, that's fine.
