transparent jpeg shows light grey

The converted images that are normally transparent on a browser appear
with a light grey background on plucker.
I am doing a normal convert using bpp=4. The images are grey scale but
using transparency.

Any ideas? I imagine this isn't plucker itself but the image convert
program. Can this be configured? Convert the transparency to a shade of
white to appear flush w/the rest of the page on the palm?
