I've now discovered that it works when I use plucker-build from the command line, but only for an image depth of 1 bit. A coworker got it to work on his os for any number of bits. So, maybe a problem with red hat? Anyway, 1 bit depth is enough for me so no one has to respond (unless it's for everyone else's benefit).
