Nope, that does not work either. You have to go to the sites
directly, or check your online AvantGo HotSync log for errors reaching the
site, and see if they reveal the URL in the error message.

Correct. Have you tried looking at http://openurls.plkr.org? It's a
wiki I've created and populated with ~650 PDA-sized URLs that I've collected
over the years from various websites and scraping methods. Many of these
aren't even listed on AvantGo's servers.
