I just wanted to mention that we've seen a few users dropping in irc
this past week, and I've helped them both out. The first one was using OSX,
and we found an issue with "too many files open" which turned out to be the
OSX default of 256 files in csh, unlimit fixed that. He was trying to pull
the STL from SGI's site, and it would bomb out. Raising the limit of open
files from 256 to 10240 solved the problem straight away. Bill, maybe we
should add something in there to check for that, runtime or at install time?

The second user was having trouble with JPluck on XP, and it turned
out to be that he had 0.9b3 installed and then installed 0.9b4 over that, or
tried to, but the install bombs out with "Error registering jpluck conduit
dll" or something like that. I don't run Windows, and I've never run JPluck
before, so I was in new territory. I installed it on a Windows 2000 machine
here, and on an XP+SP1 virtual image in vmware, and both worked fine. After
uninstalling JPluck and reinstalling, he was able to get up and running
again.

However, I just wanted to say that I've never run JPluck before,
other than to launch it, poke around the menus, and exit it. I stuffed two
of my favorite links in it on the Windows side, and let it rip. Great work,
it looks good. I'm not really fond of the UI, but I'm sure I can find some
theme kit out there and gut it. It seems fast, capable, and mostly
intuitive. I haven't loaded the pdbs it creates into a "real" Palm yet, but
I will soon. Right now, it's stuck on link 200 of 1,471 on Newsblaster.

Great work Laurens, keep it up.

Now if only there was a non-GUI version to bench against my perl =)
