next beta. Images are converted right after they've been retrieved rather
than at the end of the conversion, during PDB generation. This results in
much lower memory consumption as the image data do not have to be kept in
memory during the entire conversion process.

You could also give the option to store the converted images temporaly in disk... I thinks it would be better, because if there is memory they will stay on the disk cache, so you are more friendly with the system.
