Like two others on this list (Andrew Sawyer and Erich Neuwirth), I just downloaded Plucker Desktop 1.4 and am getting the "locale '' cannot be set" errors. This prevents hotsyncing as well. I am using Windows XP.
Any help appreciated!

Fixed yesterday in CVS. In seems to be some anomaly in en and en_US on Microsoft Windows, as far as I can see with sourcecode to the OS. Further details are on bugs.plkr.org.
For the meantime, you can open up Preferences Dialog > Interface tab, and turn off translation into the local language.
