What about having the viewer determine if it collides with the picture and if so make it invisible but if not, make it visible, or just relegate it to the menu in the latter case.

Just a thought. Probably too much effort for something so small.

I think that this is a problem addressed by Alex, and should be
included in the (upcoming?) unstable 1.5 release.

This was done on purpose, its still clickable but just hidden from
view so that it doesn't display overtop of the image itself.
