I can hardly speak for "the developer community", but ignorance never stopped anyone ;) Presumably because the hardware hasn't been close to being able to do it until now ... ! Also, such a parser would probably be a minority interest; it's easy to forget that there are a _lot_ of people with Palm Vs and no intention of upgrading (because they are small and nice-looking) ...
