I can't remember beginning of this thread, but if you use JPluck, you can set channel to update at each hotsync by selecting None in Schedule combobox (channel 'Main' properties page).
E.g. I use this to grab my Mozilla bookmarks every time I leave my computer ('cos at this time I sync).

The conduit is set to "autoupdate at hotsync" but only the channels which are due are updated...
