They largely overlap... with mutually-incompatible conduits because they work on the same data types (Plucker files). So what you saw is normal; you can only have one of the two conduits installed-and-working. Plucker Desktop is an interface to the Plucker parser written in Python. JPluck has a new parser written in Java and does not require any of the standard Plucker installation except for the viewer on the Palm.
