They largely overlap... with mutually-incompatible conduits because they
work on the same data types (Plucker files).  So what you saw is normal;
you can only have one of the two conduits installed-and-working.

Plucker Desktop is an interface to the Plucker parser written in Python. 
JPluck has a new parser written in Java and does not require any of the
standard Plucker installation except for the viewer on the Palm.  Their
filtering and inclusion code is very different, but they both accomplish
mostly the same tasks.
