If you run a desktop, use NetworkManager, or if headless, just use the local networking in the os, deb using /etc/network/interfaces or rh-derivatives using sysconfig scripts. NM is removing those lines to reset them themselves from dhcp config (or it's static configs it'll overwrite and push).

Don't you get your dns servers from dhcp? Routers usually just regurgitate whatever the isp sends you.

I was adding to the /etc/resolv.cong and the lines kept disappearing. So I turned off Network Manager, was this the right move or do I need the Network Manager?

Thanks!!
