If you are pasting into a libreoffice document you can simply select Edit -> Paste Special and then select "Unformatted Text", and that with paste your selected text while getting rid off all that annoying formatting. Most other word processors have a similar function in a similar place such as Calligra Word's Edit -> Paste as Text

Of course that doesn't answer the original question as to why kwrite would change fonts... Isn't it just a text editor?

I launch Kate and copy into Kate then select all and cut then post into the word type doc. I am not able to open a text editor with a right click to the desktop.

ONE way is to paste it to straight text file - right click your
desktop, create a "NEW TEXT DOCUMENT" (NOT KWRITE), copy FROM that
file to paste buffer, paste to kwrite. THAT should strip any
"coding".

I've not been able to figure out why this happens
or how to "clear" the hidden coding that causes this.

I've tried cutting and pasting the same text into
libre mail and the text then looks okay, but if I
cut and paste it back into kwrite, the same display
problem appears. Strange.

Any suggestions to clear whatever hidden coding
is causing this?
