More info would be helpful. I use VirtualBox regularly on the latest Ubuntu with no issues at all. Of course, I've taken to running it in a window rather than integrated into the desktop. I've found that some of the desktop window-treatments like shaky windows and other eye-candy of X can interfere with the screen-redraw of Virtualbox. But then, I tend to turn the eye-candy off so now I just use Windows in a window out of habit.
