Who said I pressed the panic button? Why dont u read
my mail properly?

Who are u to call my actions crazy? I tried whatever I
could. If you want, let me lend you my lycoris and I
will enjoy watching you regain your system.
I have worked with dos n windows since 1990. So dont
you teach me what I should hv done (like not deleting
my partition.)

I used to have red hat along with windows since 1996.
So I very well know few things. And for your "Linux
installer or it was the person instructing the
installer?" comment, all I can say is that you better
try lycoris before commenting such things?

I am an end user. I care a damn as to check the h/w n
other stuff. My system is Celeron 700, 256 MB, 40 GB.
i810. If knoppix works fine on my system, I was
expecting the so-called "better" versions of linux to
work fine.

Never did I hv BSOD.
I dont reboot my SE. I shut it down when I am over w/
my work.
No virus problems. A good free AV from avasta and a
firewall from zonealarm is sufficient.
I have a n original legal copy of SE.
As for my experience w/ dos and windows, I have
written com equivalent (just few interfaces and)
(means wrote the same MyIUnknown, MyIDespatch etc etc
and used it).
Another thing. SE (developed in 98) is better than
linux that I saw in 2001. My company system admin just
changed the lan card of the linux system that he had,
and the damned thing crashed.

Last but not the least... I am a QA, tester guy. I
care a damn of the intricacies of OS. For me, OS is
just like a music system or a calculator. If Lycoris
claim that they are the best in desktop, then show.
Dont tell the user to check the admin guide and
manual.

Others: Thanks for telling me to try other linux. I hv
got my hands on mandrake. Will try that this wkend.
