Did you configure enable module support before compiling? Also did you download 2.6.8 'vanilla' or from your distribution's website as an RPM? You should know that the 2.6 vanilla series is NOT really meant to be stable rather the distributor's responsibilty to patch a kernel version and make it stable before distributing... I'm sorry I cant get some links to people (the bigwig developers like Torvalds, Cox, Morton, et al) discussing that but you could try searching for it. P.S.: I hope you know 'vanilla' kernel means the standard released by the linux kernel developers and that which is available off kernel.org and its mirrors... 8-) P.S.2: 2.6.8 had some problem (which might not affect you) and was quickly patched and released as 2.6.8.1 (yes, a fourth number) and even that is considered really buggy by a lot of other project developers (like GNUPG.org, KDE.org etc) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
