I dont think thats fair,
Even though i personally won't be too much inclined to use sybase, the
fact remains that Proprietory applications _will_ remain as a
significant part of the computing for decades to come. As linux users
if we need to promote linux we can not shunn away from the people who
just need to use those propriatory apps.
Otherwise we should also ban discussing  java plugins/apps, crossover
office  and heck even the firefox flash plugin. (do we need to include
mplayer ?? i think it wasn't free, as in free speech, atleast few
years back i am not sure of the current status)  got my point?
 
So as long as the discussion remains about using sybase _on_ _linux_
and issues involved in it i think it should be ok.
