No internal modem without a hardware com port works in linux. Yours is a conexant chipset modem. you require hsfmodem driver from www.linuxant.com This is a free driver and works at 14.4kbps. Do a uname -sr before you download from site as they have many drivers even for mandrake10.1. Download 7.18... driver for your kernel. #rpm -ivh hsfmodem-7.18.00.03full_k2.6.8.1_12mdk-1mdk.i586.rpm This will install it. Use kppp to test your modem. To get it to work at full speed read: http://freax.be/wiki/index.php/Installing_RH9_on_a_Compaq_nx9010_laptop Ranjit.
