hi all
i am a engineering student and would like to
have the support from plug members to build a new
version of linux which will be targetted at home
users.it wouldnt have those mind bloggling selection
of software appclns to choose from or have 3 cds set
required which really confuses first time linux
usersbut at the same time would have all basic
functionality reqd for a productive desktop for eg a
single office suite (eg openoffice or any better one
if it exists),a pdf reader,an xp like desktop,a single
media player capable to rip,run all formats and play
any codec on earth.
i have gone through a lot of linux distributions
but some are still quite confusing i.e. some are
confusing about their licensing terms,some about
usability and some are just distros being manufactured
by deleting software from server distros.secondly in
india the support for such distros is ltd only to
linux user groups.The companies which manufacture
these software dont take into account needs of user
but want to build software which they think is fit to
be included
so i propose to build a linux distribution
with ur help which wouldnt be something commercial but
surely will be revolutionary for the new home users if
anybody is interested please mail me .
