Another main feature is the right to further copy and distribute. ie under GPL owner also give away the right to further copy and give away this software keeping the GPL intact. So that the third receiver also has the right to further distribute.
Here owner may or may not charge money for the software being given away while the same is true for the receiver of the software he may or may not charge money for further distribution. So the GPL is also called CopyLEFT (as against copyright) Regards Yagnesh [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: ----- To: [email protected] From: "nilesh deo" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent by: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: 01/07/2007 11:53PM Subject: [PLUG] some clarifications on GPL hi there I am a bit confused with the terms of GPL What i know is that if a SW is reg. under GPL and if the SW is allowed to be dwnl then the owner must also give the source code along with it, now is there any more to it ? bye ppl -- ______________________________________________________________________ Pune GNU/Linux Users Group Mailing List: ([email protected]) List Information: http://plug.org.in/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/plug-mail Send 'help' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] for mailing instructions. -- ______________________________________________________________________ Pune GNU/Linux Users Group Mailing List: ([email protected]) List Information: http://plug.org.in/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/plug-mail Send 'help' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] for mailing instructions.
