I am using ubuntu 6.06.
I got a notification of updates - checked and found them to be xscreensaver
related.
I want to disable notification for these updates permenantly.
Can anyone help me in disabling them?
I am not sure about Ubuntu, but this may work: Edit
/etc/apt/preferences file and add lines as below:
Package: xscreensaver
Pin: version 5.8*
Pin-Priority: 1001
Change 5.8* in the middle line to current xscreensaver version (hint:
aptitude show xscreensaver | grep -i version). If possible, read man
apt_preferences.
BTW, tell us back if it worked.
