Open up a console and run whereis :-
whereis gaim
It should report back the location of the binary,
libraries and the man pages. something like
gaim: /usr/bin/gaim /usr/lib/gaim /usr/include/gaim
/usr/man/man1/gaim.1
Check from Mandrake control center(mcc) if the package
is installed or if it is installable.
Did you update the repositories / install any software
updates ?
