Check the gateway of your workstation. If you're using linux as you masq box, then the ip address of that box should be the gateway of your workstations. Otherwise, use the ethernet port of your router. Remember, it's a rule that your gateway should fall on the same network as set in your workstations. or else, you got problem. 2. Check if you have supplied correct dns address in the workstations. If you're using the dns ip address of your isp, try pinging the ip address. If you receive 'Unreachable', probably, there is no entry in the gateway. Go back to 1. 3. If you're behind a masq box, don't forget to forward traffic to your lan using masq parameter. Ex. below, ipchains -A forward -j MASQ -i ppp0 -s 192.168.10.0/24 -d 0/0 4. If you are to use your box as a nameserver for your LAN, be sure you have the root-server file properly configured in /etc/named.conf 5. As for pop3, try doing a telnet on the linux box at port 110. If you receive a header or something, it means that your pop3 is running. 6. If not, open /etc/inetd.conf and check pop3 is not commented out. If it is, remove the comments then save it. Send a SIGHUP to inetd by doing killall -HUP inetd. 7. That's all I can help - Philippine Linux Users Group.
