just recently, i upgraded my slack 3.5 radius/portslave server to slack 7. i restored
my configuration files (just /etc/raddb/* and /etc/portslave/pslave.conf) and
recompiled both programs from the source (same version of radius/portslave as the ones
in my slack 3.5). everything seemed to be going well, i was able to test radius and
portslave from the server.

problem: i noticed that when i made a win9x system dial, the server would do a
handshake but hang...causing both systems to timeout. so i tried using a terminal
program to dial so i could see exactly if the server was putting a login prompt. so it
did...but i couldn't write anything. anything i type wasn't going out to the
screen...the cursor just stayed at login: _ - i figured it had something to do with my
kernel char devices so i tried different configurations compiling the kernel. wala
parin.

added info: when i type at the login prompt, the transmit light doesn't light
up...i've tested this on 3 different win9x machines with different modems.

any ideas?

thanks...

=)
