When building apache with mod_ssl support, one has to do
make certificate TYPE=custom
to create a self-signed certificate for the server. This make creates
both the signer's and the server's certificates, which in our case,
happens to be the same entity.
The make is interactive, and asks several questions. If the organization
name ("Ateneo de Manila University") does not agree with the email
address ("[EMAIL PROTECTED]") in the resulting certificate,
then the browser will report a certificate name that does not match
the site name. But how the heck does one know, from among the interactive
questions asked which question represented Certificate Name and which one
the Site Name? After several experiments with "make certificate"
I finally got it right.
Now there is no more name mismatch error.
But there is still this question of "unrecognized signer".
