Hi Jess,

I have an IDE CD-RW, and yes, I do my CD burn-ins on Linux.  Here's
the installation procedure in a nutshell:

0. Enable SCSI-to-IDE translation (a.k.a SCSI emulator) support in the
kernel.  The translation allows you to map the IDE device as a SCSI
generic device. 
1. get a CD-RW software.  The de facto is CDRecord+mkisofs.

  Also there are GUI wrappers for the combo.  The most notable is XCDRoast
(http://www.fh-muenchen.de/rz/xcdroast/)
2. Burn, burn, burn.
