If I am not mistaken, caller ID has to be enabled by your telephone provider
first (on their equipment's side) before you can read caller ids using
caller id enabled devices.  Some phones are caller id enabled like those
with crystal displays or you can get the device like the one being used in
PLDT's commercial.  Your modem probably can read caller id.  If I am not
mistaken the command to enable your modem's caller id feature is ATCID=1. In
win9x, you can enable this feature using HyperTerminal.  When the phone
rings and your modem answers it will dispplay your caller's id. In Linux,
Minicom is probably the answer.
