Hello everyone, I have uncovered a problem with the AGPGART kernel module (AGP graphics address relocation table). This is on my personal system (i440BX, 256MB core, Voodoo3 3000). Strictly speaking, I don't need the AGPGART module because the Voodoo3 is not an AGP 2X/DME part, it's just AGP 1X. Doh (but if you have an i810 you need AGPGART, and it improves performance on ATI Rage/Rage Pro and Matrox G200/G400 parts). Briefly: I discovered that loading AGPGART into the kernel will cause Oracle8 to die (just the engine, the listener survives). A look at the crash dump file revealed that it was consistently choking on Signal 11. Sound familiar? I was in too much of a hurry to do the Tried And Tested Signal 11 Testing Routine (tm) (which is to do a bunch of kernel builds). So I just unloaded the GART module, but that didn't work. A fresh reboot without the GART loaded made the problem go away, and all was fine and peachy again. I realize this info is of limited use (no one in their right mind would put an OpenGL accelerator card on an Oracle8 server). But I thought it was worthwhile to mention nonetheless. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Orlando Andico <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> POTS Phone: +63 (2) 937-2293 Mosaic Communications, Inc.
