Hello all,

does anyone on this list know of a Linux distro that's FreeBSD-ish in
terms of packaging? I've long been frustrated with the bloated installs
that RedHat 6.x does. It's fine for a desktop, but for a server you need
to do a lot of pruning and then even then you don't know what 90% of the
binaries on your system do.

FreeBSD looks much more suited for a server (4.0 comes bundled with
OpenSSH, and even 3.0 had nmap bundled). And the stock install is MUCH
smaller (which I like for servers). It looks a lot like a stock Solaris
install in terms of functionality.
