Hello to everyone!
I've just finished desiging and setting up our LAN using Slackware 7.0 and
Samba to create an NT domain. Users are now able to log in using Windows 98,
logon scripts and user profiles are working, WINS NBNS name resolution is
working and everything's fine and dandy.
I've also set up DHCP. I'll set up LDAP, masquerading, printer sharing
(DeskJet 970Cxi & LaserJet 1100), and caching DNS in the next few days.
Now on to my questions:
1. Any gotchas about using the abovementioned printers with Linux & Samba?
2. Have any of you had experience with Domino 5.0.2 and Linux? I've just
finished settting it up and it seems to work with Slackware even though IBM
only officially supports Red Hat, SuSE, and Caldera.
2. I also plan on using IBM WebSphere Performance Pack Cache Manager for
Multiplatforms, V3.0 instead of Squid as our caching proxy server. Any
comments or experiences?
3. Has anyone used fetchmail with Domino?
I know they're not really open source but since we can use them for free I
guess I'd better try them. Besides, I would like the experience :)
I'm currently using WinGate to share our Internet connection but I would
like to get rid of it. As the cache utilization and number of users start to
rise the WinGate engine crashes and eventually even Win98SE crashes on
startup. It came to a point wherein Win98SE wouldn't even start :(. This
kept happening even though I've reinstalled Win98SE and WinGate several
times.
Thanks in advance for any replies!
