BSD doesnt have a journaling filesystem. However it updates metadata
synchronously which slows it down but improves FS reliability. I'd go with
Reiser if I were you.. it doesn't have to be Mandrake 7.1, any 2.2 kernel
will work (just patch it). We used to run Oracle here in Moscom on top of
Reiser.. seemed to work ok (for a couple months). After that we went to
Solaris..
