[plug] wu-ftpd anonymous log-in

my server does let me in ftp using anonymous login. It says that login is
incorrect?  I have a user ftp in my passwd file already.  It used to work
then I would see the pub directory but now for some reason it gives me
this error.  What do you think guys?  Thanks.

PASS 
and then received this reply 
Login incorrect.
