IMHO, if squid uses up 20mb or more of swap, performance of squid is
horrible. It would be better to install more memory or optimize your
squid/Linux configs.

Nope. I usually install a 128Mb swap partition. if an application or
software uses 64Mb or more swap, then performance suffers.

Kasi, if your a windows user, you tend to view file as an extension of
your physical Memory.  Look at the swap partition/file as an indicator of
your memory needs.

If you value performance, then upgrade your memory(if Linux is using swap
extensively.), it's cheap now a days. If you don't care or you don't have
the financial capabilities, then make your swap bigger. Your apps will
still work but you will have sluggish performance!
