Did you change the time in Linux or during CMOS setup?
When Linux boots, it gets the CMOS clock, then uses the software version.
If you change the Linux date, then the CMOS clock is not updated. You have
to do
hwclock --systohc
If you change the date in CMOS set-up or the CMOS clock wasn't updated
the next time you boot, then probably your CMOS battery is dead and needs
to be replaced.
