ping the ip address first so that the address resolution protocol takes place and
then do arp -a
take note you can do this if your host ip address is the same network segment to
your target host.

if that the case then, use a *switch* instead of hub that has a feature of *port
security*. configuring your switch on a particular port equal to what mac address
do you want to pass thru and  when a packets with a source address (mac addresss)
doesnt equal to the specified mac address that you specified, it will simply
disable or suspend that port.
